Attorney General to make major announcement in Baby Kate case Friday

October 3, 2013

LUDINGTON — Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette is expected to be in Ludington Friday to make a major announcement in the case of missing Katherine “Baby Kate” Phillips. A press conference is being held at 11:45 a.m. at Ludington Municipal Complex, 400 S. Harrison Street.

Baby Kate was 4-months-old when she disappeared in June 2011. Her father, Sean Michael Phillips, was sentenced up to 15 years in prison for unlawful imprisonment of the child. Since his June 2012 sentence, local law enforcement has been pursuing the case as a murder case.

In June of this year, several volunteers searched wooded areas in Grant Township, looking for a combination of plant materials that matched the materials that were on Phillips’ shoes the day he was arrested. Investigators have since narrowed the area to one square mile.

No other details of the press conference have been announced at this time. MCP will be there and will report live.
