6 sentenced in Circuit Court this week

LUDINGTON – The following defendants were sentenced this past week in 51st Circuit Court:

Swift

Swift

–         Robert Emerson Swift, 62, of 1495 Palmer Ave., Muskegon, was found guilty June 17 of second-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC) assault and habitual offender, third conviction. He was sentenced Sept. 10 to a minimum of two years, 10 months to a maximum of 10 years with the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC). He received credit for 239 days served in jail. He was also ordered to pay $198 in fines and costs. One count of CSC, second offense, person under 13, was dismissed.

Anderson

–         James Christian Anderson, 53, of 96 S. Emerson Lake Dr., Branch, was found guilty July 16of controlled substance, possession of marijuana. He was sentenced Sept. 10 to 90 days in jail with credit for one day served; serve 30 days up front; balance to be served at the court’s discretion; report to jail Dec. 1; $448 in fines and costs; and 18 months probation. On count of controlled substance, delivery/manufacture, second offense was dismissed.

–         Thomas Anthony Marsh, 41, of 6952 Gibson Rd., Walhalla, was found guilty July 18 of controlled substance possession, less than 25 grams. He was sentenced Sept. 10 to one year in jail with credit for 30 days served; serve three months up front, balance to be served at the court’s discretion; 24 months probation; and $598 in fines and costs. Sanction reportable to the Michigan State Police (MSP), driver’s license suspended 60 days, restricted 305 days.

–         Bryan Jacob Carroll, 29, of 3303 N. 166th Ave., Walkerville, was found guilty Aug. 6 of fleeing police officer, third degree; assaulting/resisting; obstructing a police officer; and habitual offender, fourth conviction. He was sentenced Sept. 10 to concurrent terms of a minimum of two years to a maximum of 20 years with the MDOC and a minimum of two years to a maximum of 15 years with the MDOC. Conviction is reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS). Sentence runs consecutively to parole sentence.

–         Nicholas Gene Helfrich, 23, of 201 E. Filer St., Ludington, was found guilty Aug. 15 of controlled substance delivery, schedule 1, 2, 3; and habitual offender, third conviction. He was sentenced Sept. 10 to a minimum of one year, three months to a maximum of 14 years with the MDOC. Sentence runs consecutively to parole sentence. One count of habitual offender, fourth conviction, was dismissed.

–         Graham Joseph Crawford, 31, of 105 E. Filer St., Ludington, was found guilty July 18 of two counts of controlled substance delivery, schedule 1, 2, 3, and maintaining a drug house. He was sentenced Sept. 10 to three concurrent counts of one year in jail with credit for two days served; $1,793 in fines, costs and restitution; and 36 months probation. Sanction reportable to MSP, driver’s license suspended 30 days, restricted 150 days. One count of controlled substance delivery, schedule 1, 2, 3; two counts of felony firearms; and one count of controlled substance, possession of a non-narcotic, was dismissed. In another case (that runs concurrent with the previous case), he was found guilty July 18 of two counts of controlled substance delivery, less than 50 grams. He was sentenced Sept. 10 to two concurrent terms of one year in jail with credit for nine days served; serve 10 months up front with the balance to be served at the court’s discretion; 36 months probation; and $2,221 in fines, costs and restitution. Sanction reportable to MSP, driver’s license suspended 30 days, restricted 150 days. One count of controlled substance delivery/manufacture was dismissed.
