LUDINGTON — The City of Ludington has closed the breakwaters today due to hazardous weather conditions. Earlier today the National Weather Service issued a beach hazards advisory for the beaches from Whitehall to Manistee. The advisory is in effect until Wednesday night. There is a potential for high wave action and dangerous swimming conditions due to strong structural currents and rip currents. The advisory was made due to increasingly strong north winds today and tonight.

Beaches with particularly dangerous conditions include Stearns Park in Ludington and Charles Mears State Park in Pentwater, the advisory stated.

The weather forecast called for winds from the north-northwest at 20 mph today.
