Pilots will raffle B-17 rides

b-17 yankee ladyPERE MARQUETTE TWP. — The Mason County Pilot’s Association will again host the World War II era B-17 bomber Yankee Lady on July 3 and 4 at the Mason County Airport. The association is selling raffle tickets for a ride on the plane.

Eleven winners, out of 400 tickets being sold at $25 each, will win the chance to ride on the plane. The drawing will take place on June 29 and rides will begin on Wednesday, July 3 at 5 p.m. and will continue again on the afternoon of July 4. Rides may also be purchased for $425 per person.

The raffle is a fund raising to pay for the plan coming to Ludington. In order to break even the association must raise $6,500. Any excess funds will be donated to Sandcastles Children’s Museum of Ludington.

Tickets are being sold at the American Legion Post 76 on North James Street in Ludington, Sandcastles Children’s Museum on Ludington Avenue and from any member of the pilot’s association.
