Update: US 10-31 accident

UPDATE: Names released.

AMBER TWP. — Edgar Ward, 88, Manistee, was hospitalized Sunday following a traffic crash on U.S. 10-31 near Quarterline Road. According to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Ward made a left turn with his 2005 Subaru Forester from west U.S. 10-31 onto Quarterline Road into the path of an east-bound Jeep driven by Tyler Varenhorst, 20, Scottville.

Both drivers were traveling alone.

Ward was airlifted from the scene to Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids where he is listed in critical condition as of 7 a.m. today. Varenhorst was transported to Memorial Medical Center by Life EMS ambulance where he was treated and released.

In addition to the sheriff’s office, Scottville and Custer fire departments also responded.
