3 receive sentences in district court

LUDINGTON — Three people were sentenced in 79th District Court this week. They included a guilty plea of driving a vehicle while impaired by liquor, assault and battery and a hunting violation.

– Melanie Lee Thomas, 44, 701 N. New William St., Ludington, was found guilty on Dec. 4 for Operating a Vehicle While Impaired by Liquor. She was sentenced to 2 days in jail and 93 days discretionary jail for 2 years. She must attend the Victims Impact Panel, must not have/buy/use alcohol/illicit drugs, is subject to random portable breathalyzer tests at request of any police officer, must attend Alcoholics Anonymous three times per week for two years with written verification to the court, must secure an AA sponsor, must make contact with peer recovery mentor, must not violate any criminal laws and must comply with the court sentence. She also must pay $1,145 in fines and costs and must attend outpatient treatment.
– Eric Allan Devers, 30, 614 E. Dowland St., Ludington, was found guilty on Dec. 3 of Assault and Battery. He was sentenced to 21 days in jail and 93 days discretionary jail for 2 years. He must not buy/use alcohol/illicit drugs, must not have any contact with the victims in the matter and must not violate any criminal laws. He also had to pay $760 in fines and costs.
– Ivan Alvin Henry, 40, 3589 E. Manales Road, Sherman Twp., was found guilty on Nov. 29 for Possession/Taking an Illegal Deer. He was ordered to pay $1,485 in costs and fines and received 90 days discretionary jail for 1 year and loss of hunting privileges for 3 years.

– Clinton John Taylor, Jr., 23, 910 Pere Marquette Hwy., #6, Pere Marquette Twp., Larceny of more than $200 and less than $1,000.
– Brian Humphrey Shelton, 32, 7731 Kuck Road, Mint Hill, NC, Domestic Violence.
