West Shore Bank teams with local grocers for Spirit of Giving

LUDINGTON – West Shore Bank, along with Shop-N-Save of Ludington, Hansen Foods in Hart, and Oleson’s Foods in Manistee, are teaming up this holiday season and challenging area residents and businesses to show their “Spirit of Giving!”

This is West Shore Bank’s fourth year to team up with local food store partners to offer special pricing for the purchase of a complete dinner to be distributed to local food pantries for Christmas. The dinner consists of a whole chicken, stuffing, vegetables, potatoes and a dessert.

“Making a real difference in the lives of those struggling in our own community is what makes this ‘Spirit of Giving’ challenge so special,” said Raymond Biggs, president and CEO of West Shore Bank. “Our bank staff looks forward to supporting this event and challenge other individuals and businesses in our area to do so as well.”

West Shore Bank will accept donations at any of their eight banking offices from Nov. 19 to Dec. 7. With the money raised, West Shore Bank will distribute certificates to food pantries in Mason, Oceana and Manistee counties which can be redeemed for the complete dinner at their respective market partners. To help stretch dollars even further, West Shore Bank has agreed to match the first $2,000 raised.

“As financial hardships continue for many, this time of year can be particularly stressful,” said Biggs. “It’s a nice time of year to share blessings with others.”

Last year 549 meals were distributed in the three-county area.

Any individuals or businesses who would like to donate can stop by West Shore Bank during regular banking hours or make a check made payable to “Mason County Holiday Dinner,” “Oceana County Holiday Dinner” or “Manistee County Holiday Dinner” and mail to West Shore Bank, Attn: Spirit of Giving Challenge, PO Box 627, Ludington, MI 49431.
