LUDINGTON – The voice of the Ludington Orioles, Rod Beckman, will be heard on a new radio station this fall, WMOM FM 102.7. Rod will direct all local sports coverage and will cover play by play of Ludington boys and girls basketball while Todd Hansen and Gary Castonia will cover play by play of Oriole football.

After 40 years of working for WKLA, Beckman was fired from Synergy Broadcasting after it took over operations of the radio station the end of May.

“It feels great knowing that Ludington sports will continue,” Rod said.

WMOM will cover 35 Ludington games this fall and winter including nine football games, starting Aug. 24 against Manistee. Coverage will also include six girls’ basketball games and at least 20 boys’ basketball games.

According to a press release from WMOM, several businesses have already committed to sponsoring the coverage.

Rod said WMOM has already reserved its spots in the LHS press boxes, once occupied by WKLA, at both Oriole Field and Hawley Gymnasium.
