We are looking for community columnists

January 17, 2012

MasonCountyPress.com is looking for regular contributors to write about their community. We are interested in people who enjoy writing and who enjoy where they live. The columnist will have artistic freedom to write about anything he/she would like with emphasis on their community. These may be features about days gone by, stories about upcoming or recent events, observations about the weather, features on particular people or places or whatever else you would like to write about.

Communities can be towns, neighborhoods, schools, churches or organizations. Regarding actual neighborhoods, we are looking for these areas (but this list is not all-inclusive): Scottville, Custer, Walhalla, Branch, Fountain, Free Soil, Grant, Riverton, Hamlin, Bass Lake area, Ludington neighborhoods and Epworth Heights.

Ideally, a columnist would contribute at least once a week, but we are open to ideas and suggestions.

We also would love to have columnists who would like to talk about specific topics such as gardening, cooking, raising children, financial advise, among other topics.

If you are someone interested in one of these areas, please drop me an email (perhaps with a paragraph or two sample of what you would like to write about).

Together, we can make this a great online publication. Remember, this is now the area’s only locally owned news publication.

Sincerely,

Rob Alway, Editor
