Man shot in leg during second accidental shooting in two days.

FREE SOIL TOWNSHIP — A 46-year-old man was accidentally shot Sunday afternoon in the leg. The incident occurred in the 2100 block of East Hoague Road.  Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole said deputies were told a rifle had been resting against the side of a vehicle when it apparently slipped and discharged, resulting in the man being shot.

The man was transported to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital then Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital in Grand Rapids.

The incident was the second accidental shooting in Mason County this weekend. The first took place Saturday in Meade Township. See story here.

Free Soil/Meade Fire Department and Life EMS also responded to the scene, in addition to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
