HAMLIN TOWNSHIP – A 35-year-old Chicago man was arrested by Mason County sheriff’s deputies for allegedly breaking into a camper at the Ludington State Park Campground Saturday, Oct. 19, at 3 a.m. and assaulting the owner who was inside the camper, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

“The suspect was reportedly intoxicated, broke into a camper and assaulted the owner,” Cole said.

Robert Christopher Williams was arrested at the scene and faces charges of first-degree home invasion and assault.

The victim reportedly did not know Williams, said Cole, and no injuries were reported.

Williams bonded out of the Mason County Jail on a $10,000/10 percent bond, he said.
