Online CommUNITY Auction to begin March 1.

SCOTTVILLE — The 26th annual Spring CommUNITY Auction will look a little different this year. As the COVID pandemic continues to mean no social gathering, this year’s event will be held online from March 1 through 6.

The auction is a major fundraiser for the Mason County Central Educational Foundation and the Ludington & Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce.  This year’s event will feature a $500 raffle along with live and silent auctions. Bidders can expect trip packages, entertainment, sporting goods, home items and more. Hundreds of goods and services will be showcased, all available at auctionbid.givesmart.com. Bidder registration begins February 22.

Approximately 200 items will be listed. Categories include home, crafts, outdoor, entertainment, sports, food, home and beauty, art, service, and tools.

Items can be shipped for a small fee or will be available for pick up either at the MCC Central Business Office or, large items, at the donor’s place of business.

Though online, this year’s event will again feature a puppy for auction, an 8-week-old German shepherd. The puppy is sponsored by area chiropractic offices: Squires Family Care Chiropractic, Northstar Chiropractic, Ludington Chiropractic, Ingle Family Chiropractic, Hendricks Family Chiropractic, and Morley Chiropractic.

Some other featured items include a collection of Snow Village pieces, 50-plus, to be sold in lots of five to eight pieces, outdoor grill, quality purses, digital microscope, local dining gift cards, handmade quilt, and many more.

Those wishing to participate should register online, with bidding to begin at 4 p.m. Monday, March 1. Silent auction items will be awarded to the highest bidder starting at 10 p.m. Saturday, March 6.

In addition to being one of Scottville’s acclaimed events, the Spring CommUNITY Auction raises funds for:

 ● Mason County Central school projects

 ● Scholarships and opportunities for Mason County Central students

 ● Business-development programs that help build a stronger community

 ● Educational, community services and events
