LASD modifies food drop-offs, adds locations.

LUDINGTON — Ludington Area School District is modifying its food delivery program beginning next week. Delivery dates will be moved from five days a week to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, according to Superintendent Jason Kennedy.

“We will continue to provide meals covering each day of the week to help meet the needs of our families,” Kennedy said in a post on the district’s Facebook page. “As an example, we will provide meals on Monday that cover breakfast and lunch for both Monday and Tuesday, and then will do the same on both Wednesday and Friday. Friday will also include additional meals for the weekend.”

The district has also added two additional drop-off locations:

  • Cornerstone Baptist Church, Ludington, parking lot, 11 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Ludington Soccer Fields, East Longfellow Street, parking lot, 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

See MCP’s daily Community Update for other locations and times.

“The District is committed to providing food service to support to our families and is continually working to ensure that we not only meet the needs of families, but that we put measures in place to enable the program to continue to be sustainable.

“Lowering the number of days that the service is provided allows for us to increase drop off locations to make the program more accessible to families, while also adding a breakfast and lunch to cover the weekend for eligible students. This weekend food support is in addition to food that eligible families receive through the Lakeshore Food for Kids Program.

“This also allows the District to reduce person to person contact, yet still provide meals to families. We appreciate the patience as we work through these unprecedented times and are hopeful that your families remain safe and healthy.”
