LUDINGTON —Justin David Gustafson was given a box of oil paints, brushes, and canvases as a teenager, and he has not yet stopped painting. He explains the steps required to layer and mix oil paints creating his true-to-life images. He enjoys painting scenes from nature and the outdoors and uses arbitrary colors to enhance and add depth. Visit JDGus.com to see and purchase Justin’s oil paintings. Justin provides oil painting tips and tricks to his students at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts on Sunday afternoons (ludingtonartscenter.org).

“Maker” the word according to Merriam-Webster means, “one who makes” and according to Urban Dictionary, “those who love to create things in their spare time.”

Mason County Press is looking around the local areas to find those who consider themselves Makers. Whether they make things for a living or as a hobby, we will uncover many who have a passion for creating things with their hands and sharing those items with the world.
