Fire damages Hamlin Township house.

HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — Fire damaged a house at 2088 N. Sherman Road Monday. Firefighters from Hamlin Township Fire Department and Pere Marquette Township Fire Department were called to the scene about 1:20 p.m. Heavy smoke was coming from the eaves of the building when the first units arrived. Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire. Hamlin Fire Chief Steve Vandervest said the fire started in a back room of the house. The Mason County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene to investigate.
