Fountain man cited for hit & run crash; weekend police news

SHERMAN TOWNSHIP — A 53-year-old Fountain man was cited for causing a hit and run crash that took place on Saturday, Sept. 7. At 4:37 p.m., Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Townline and Custer roads for a report of a UTV that was travelling on the road and was struck by Chevrolet Suburban driven by a male suspect. The driver of the UTV was not injured and the Suburban left the scene of the crash. The Suburban driver was located on Sunday, Sept. 8, and cited for the crash. 

Friday, Sept. 6, 2019

• 10:21 a.m., Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), a 30-year-old Ludington man was cited for driving while license suspended (DWLS), first offense, following a traffic stop at Gordon and Johnson roads, Amber Township. 
• 4:58 p.m., Ludington Police Department (LPD), a 32-year-old Portage man was arrested for a bench warrant from Mason County’s 79th District Court, 600 block of South Washington Avenue, City of Ludington. 
• 5:30 p.m., (LPD), a 27-year-old Ludington woman was arrested for a warrant from Osceola County’s 77th District Court, 600 block of South Washington Avenue, City of Ludington. 
• 5:27 p.m., (MCSO), two vehicle crash, no injuries, US 31 eastbound US 10 off-ramp at US 10, Amber Township. 
• 7:46 p.m., (MCSO), two vehicle hit and run crash, no injuries, 2200 block of W US 10/31, Amber Township. 

Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019

• 12:35 a.m., (MCSO), two vehicle crash, no injuries, State and Main Street, City of Scottville. Scottville Fire Department, Custer Fire Department, and Life EMS also dispatched. 
• 2:25 a.m., (MCSO), a 23-year-old Fountain man was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI), first arrest, following a traffic stop on Hansen Road near Dennis Road, Amber Township.
• 7:15 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injuries, Free Soil Road east of Darr Road, Free Soil Township. 
• 9 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injuries, Bryant and Hillview roads, Pere Marquette Township. 
• 9:48 a.m., (MCSO), two vehicle crash, no injuries, Reinberg Avenue and State Street, City of Scottville. 
• 4:36 p.m., (MCSO), a 56-year-old Custer man was arrested for DWLS, third arrest, following a traffic stop on US 10 and Darr Road, Custer Township. 
• 6:22 p.m., (LPD), a 58-year-old Scottville man was arrested for OWI following a traffic stop on East Ludington Avenue, City of Ludington. 
• 9 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injuries, Stiles Road north of Johnson Road, Amber Township. 
• 9:56 p.m., (MCSO), one vehicle crash, no injuries, US 31 freeway near Chauvez Road, Pere Marquette Township. 
• 11:41 p.m., (LPD), a 46-year-old Ludington man was arrested for a bond violation, following a traffic stop at Madison and Second streets, City of Ludington.

Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019

• 8:24 a.m., (MCSO), a 25-year-old Muskegon man was arrested for OWI, first offense, with a high blood alcohol content, following complaints of a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. 
• 6:46 p.m., (MCSO), a 59-year-old Ludington man was arrested on two outstanding Mason County Friend of the Court warrants, US 10 and Meyers Road, Pere Marquette Township. 
• 8:46 p.m., (Michigan State Police), car/deer crash, Sugar Grove and Schoenherr roads, Sherman Township.
