MCE jr. high equestrian team wins championship.

Submitted by Coach Sheri Howe, Mason County Eastern.

LUDINGTON — The Mason County Eastern Jr. High equestrian team won the District 9 championship held last weekend with 264 total points. The team competed against five other schools in the class C division. Team members include Hillary Howe, Payton Haynes, Kiana Blais, and Shayla Tetzlaff.

Some of our highlights from the weekend are Payton Haynes getting the lowest time in the Keyhole event out of all the divisions not just our own.  Her time was 8.072 seconds. Hillary Howe received the highest score in Saddleseat Pattern with a score of 84 out of 100 total points.  Shayla Tetzlaff won saddleseat showmanship, which is a new class for her.  And Kiana Blais took second place in her classes out of 12 other exhibitors.

A big thank you to Mason County Eastern Schools for allowing us to be a team sport and to the athletic boosters for financial support.  Mason County Eastern is 1 of 3 schools in district 9  that are considered sports and funded by the school out of around 20 schools.
