Arts center to observe Earth Day.

LUDINGTON— In observance of the 45th Anniversary of Earth Day artists are invited to submit original works of art for a Celebration of Earth Day Art Exhibition at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts. This exhibit will feature artistic interpretations of the celebration of Earth Day, explore the beauty of the natural world, share an environmental message, and/or propose new ways to co-exist with our environment. All fine art media is welcome: drawing, painting, pottery, sculpture, photography, mixed media, printmaking and fiber.

The fee for submitting work to the exhibition is $5 per entry. Work may be submitted electronically for review by email at info@ludingtonartscenter.org or call to set up an appointment to submit at LACA at 231-845-2787. Deadline for submission is March 13, 2015. Artists will be notified one week after the deadline and  accepted works will need to be delivered to the LACA before the end of the month of March. AFFEW (A Few Friends for the Environment of the World) and LACA will be holding an Earth Day Celebration open to the public on Saturday April 18 from 10 a.m. -5 p.m. This event will take place at the arts center and will include speakers and workshops on green burials, birds and climate change, social investing, rain gardens, rain barrels, composting, organic lawn care, home solar and wind and more.  Other activities include a pipe ceremony, kids’ activities, booths, silent auction, live music, and healthy snacks and drinks.
