Checkers Morton to open arts center Main Stage series.

LUDINGTON – Once again Checkers Morton will open the LACA Main Stage Series. Checkers Morton is a new age/jazz ensemble founded in Grand Haven.  It will perform, Thursday, September 25 at 7:30 p.m.

This ensemble features some of the best musicians in the area: Dave Collee on bass, Gus VanStee on keys, Jim Beegle on trumpet, flueglehorn, congas and flute, Dan Giacobassi on saxes, flute and shakuhachi and Steve Harris on the drums.  Checkers Morton plays showcasing jazz classics as well as many original compositions by all of the band members.

According to bandleader Jim Beegle, each performance by Checkers Morton is unique and unpredictable featuring a variety of styles.  Jumping from blues to jazz to funk, the only guarantee is a good time.

Tickets for Checkers Morton on Thursday, September 25 are on sale now at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts at 107 S.
