Mother, baby die in Jebavy Drive crash

HAMLIN TWP. — An infant, under 1-year-old and her mother were killed, and a 5-year-old child was critically injured, during a two vehicle crash on Jebavy Drive north of Fisher Road Wednesday night. The crash involved a full size car and a pickup. The baby and mother were declared dead on the scene. The infant was in a carseat. The 5-year-old was the woman’s child.

Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole said the north bound car crossed into the path of the truck. The two fatalities and injured were from the car. The critically injured victim was transported to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital and then transported to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids via Aeromed helicopter ambulance. Cole said all involved were Mason County residents.

Hamlin Twp. Fire Dept., Ludington Fire Dept. and Pere Marquette Fire Dept. along with Life EMS assisted.

Sheriff Cole has asked us to refrain from posting detailed photographs until morning. Names will also be released by morning.
