In partnership with the Ludington & Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce, MCP presents The Business Plan, a blog about what’s going on in Mason County’s business community. Today’s feature is on Best Choice Market, which is one of the sponsors of Business After Hours, to be held Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. at AM Galleries in downtown Ludington.

LUDINGTON — “Our goal is to make Best Choice Market a culinary treasure hunt,” says Barry Neal, general manager of the downtown Ludington store. “We want our customers to come in and be surprised at what they will find here,”
Best Choice has been in business for six years. Neal says their goal is to create an experience at a reasonable price.
“We are always seeking something that you can’t find at the chain stores,” says store manager Cary Wooster. “We are really making an effort to carry Michigan made products.”
The store has already built a reputation for carrying a wide selection of beers and wines. It also features its own bakery and a deli and meat counter that attracts not only out-of-town visitors but regular local customers as well.
“Next year we are planning to start a Best Choice culinary club with a wine tour to Napa Valley,” Barry says. “We want this place to be all about food, wine and craft beer. We want to build a community around those things.”
Wooster adds that the store has made an effort in the past year to hire a team of employees who have pride in what they do.
“It’s important that employees have pride in their work and that we treat them right,” she says. “We have a team of seasoned grocery, bakery and meat counter veterans and we think of ourselves as a family here.”
Best Choice Market is located at 222 W. Ludington Ave. Visit its website at www.bestchoiceLudington.com.
