United Way reaches 75% of goal

December 22, 2012

United Way of Mason County has reached 75% of its $359,125.00 goal, with pledges now totaling $268,852.70.

According to Ryan and Tracy Cox, Campaign Co-Chairs, there are still approximately 14 entities that are in the process of wrapping up their campaign, which could account for an additional $72,000.00.

“Our goal is to make up the remaining amount from businesses and individuals that are not solicited through a workplace campaign. Between now and the first week of January, members of the campaign committee will be making follow-up phone calls asking for their support,” Ryan stated. “If businesses or individuals are not able to give now, they can ask to be billed anytime in 2013,” Tracy added.

Over 98% of the dollars raised this year, will stay in Mason County and be awarded to local programs that are focusing on helping children and youth to achieve their potential and assisting adults and families to be financially stable and independent.

According to Lynne Russell, Executive Director, local organizations, meeting the eligibility criteria, are currently in the process of completing a Request for Proposal for funding. Volunteers meet as a group to review the proposals and make a determination as to which programs should be awarded funding.
