College again offers free bus service

August 22, 2012

VICTORY TWP. – Riding a bus free-of-charge to the West Shore Community College campus will be offered again to students and anyone traveling from Ludington, Manistee and Scottville.

The College is underwriting the operational costs of the bus service to encourage more students to pursue their education without concern over high gas prices. The service is also available to those using college facilities.

Beginning Sept. 4, there will be three round-trips, Monday – Thursday, arriving at the campus early morning, before noon, and mid-afternoon. There is no service on Friday.

This year, bus service is being offered on Sept. 4 and Jan. 9, the day before the start of semester classes, to accommodate students wishing to purchase books or access other college services.

The buses depart from and return to Ludington’s Rath Avenue and Loomis Street parking lot, Manistee’s Memorial Drive parking lot, and Scottville’s municipal parking lot, behind West Shore Bank.

This is the seventh year the college has offered the free service and it will be available until May 4, 2013.

Transportation is provided by Manistee County Transportation, Inc. and the Ludington Mass Transit Authority.

More information on the service is available at www.westshore.edu.
